Evening Tea tastes best when served with cake. And for strawberry tea, you need the classic strawberry shortcake. Here’s an easy recipe for you to prepare delicious short cakes..
250g Strawberries, quartered
2 Apples, cored and cubed
30ml Orange juice
Half tsp Vanilla extract
200g Butter, Cubed, 4 Eggs
200g Caster Sugar
200g Raising Flour
Icing sugar and cream
You have to preheat the oven to 180°C.
Grease the base and sides of a springform cake tin.
Put the apples and strawberries in a bowl and toss with the orange juice and the vanilla. Put aside.
Melt the butter and cool it. Place the eggs and sugar in a bowl and beat until light and fluffy. Add butter to the mixture, and fold through the flour.
Put half of the fruits mix into the cake tin,
Pour over half of the cake mixture,
Add the remaining fruits mix and pour the rest of the cake mixture over the top.
Bake for an hour or until the toothpick test comes out clean.
Let the cake sit for 1 hour in the tin to cool completely.
Garnish with icing sugar and cream.
